Dungeons & Dragons Fantasy Maps

If you haven't guessed it already, I'm kind of a geek. With that comes my enthusiasm for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) and Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs), and their associated fantasy maps.

I've created quite a few D&D maps over the years -- generic ones from the standard Wizards books, and custom ones from Dungeon Master's (DM's) developing their own fantasy world.

Today, I want to share all of the standard D&D maps I've created, and how you can get your hands on them!

The maps include:

  • Faerun (Forgotten Realms)

    • The Sword Coast

    • Barovia (Curse of Strahd)

  • Ansalon (Dragonlance)

  • Athas (Dark Sun)

  • Khorvaire (Eberron)

  • Greyhawk (Oerth)

  • The Realms of Exandria (Critical Role)

    • Issylra

    • Marquet

    • Tal'Dorei

    • Wildemount

Faerun

From the Forgotten Realms, this extremely detailed map of Faerun shows an expansive D&D world from several popular adventures spanning from the first edition to 5e.

The campaign adventure books set in Faerun include:

  • Hoard of the Dragon Queen

  • The Rise of Tiamat

  • Waterdeep: Dragon Heist

  • Lost Mine of Phandelver

  • Out of the Abyss

  • Curse of Strahd

  • Storm King's Thunder

  • Tomb of Annihilation

  • Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus

  • Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden

  • And more!

The Sword Coast

Okay, now we're zooming in a bit. I also made a map that focuses on the Sword Coast, with all the landmarks from the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure.

Barovia

This spooky place, one of the Domains of Dread, plays an integral role in the Curse of Strahd adventure. Who feels like slaying a vampire...?

Ansalon

You might recognize this one from Dragonlance. Ansalon is one of the continents of Krynn, located in the Southern hemisphere. It's a world full of elves, ogres, and humans. This continent is huge, with tons of detail. Look closely.

Athas

Athas is a desert world, the result of an apocalypse and barely holding on. Dark Sun is a campaign set in Athas -- a story of struggle and survival. Let's take a look at this crispy land. Not many rivers in this one!

Khorvaire

Khorvaire is one continent on the planet of Eberron, set in the Northern hemisphere amidst the Bitter Sea, Lhazaar Sea, Barren Sea and Thunder Sea. It's a varying landscape full of early adventures and heroic tales.

Greyhawk

The World of Greyhawk comes from the early versions of D&D. Greyhawk is located on the planet Oerth. There are too many associated adventures to list! Just enjoy.

Exandria

Critical Role fans! I have five maps in total. The first includes all the known continents of Exandra. The other four are each a continent within Exandria.

  • Issylra

  • Marquet

  • Tal'Dorei

  • Wildemount

Again, another very detailed map, and I'm sure Critical Role will continue releasing more exciting adventures in this setting.

My recommendations

Finally, I offer most of these Dungeons & Dragons maps in either digital files, posters or laminated paper (so you can mark them up with a whiteboard marker).

My recommendation? Get the larger maps so your players can really interact. Plus, you can add personalization to the fantasy maps if you, say, want certain locations to remain hidden (ahem, a certain mine in the Phandelver adventure, for instance).

Which would you prefer for your D&D game?

  • Digital File

  • Regular Poster

  • Laminated Paper (for writing on)
